How to Change the Windows Startup Tune

Every time you log on to a computer running the Windows 7 operating system you will hear a startup sound. If you don't like the sound that plays each time you log into your computer you can changes the sound or disable it using the sound settings. If you decide to change the sound, you can test it to make sure it sounds the way you want it.

      Click the "Start" button from the Windows 7 Taskbar and select the "Control Panel" option.

      Type "sound" into the "Search" box at the top and click the "Sound" option. Select the "Sounds" tab from the dialog box that appears.

      Click the box next to the "Play Windows Startup sound" field so that it's deselected if you don't want to hear a startup sound. Keep the box selected if you want to hear a sound.

      Select the "Windows" option below the "Program Events" heading and then select the "Windows Logon" option.

      Click the "Browse" button and then select a new sound clip if you want to change the default sound.

      Click the "Test" button to hear the sound, and click the "Apply" button to save your changes. Click the "OK" button.
