How to Connect OBD II to PC

The OBD II (On-Board Diagnostics) is a handheld electronic device for reading the computer codes stored on many newer automobiles and trucks. The vehicle's computer is programmed with a variety of codes linked to various maintenance and malfunction issues. The codes serve as a guide to troubleshooting and diagnosing car repairs. Connect the OBD II to a PC or laptop using a USB cable and the software supplied with the unit.

      Load the OBD II software CD in the computer's CD-ROM tray and close. The disc begins playing automatically.

      Install the software on the computer by clicking each button on the screen. Reboot the computer when finished.

      Connect the USB cable from the port on the lower edge of the OBD II to any available USB port on the PC.

      Switch on the power to the OBD II, which will automatically launch the software on the PC.
