How to Connect a VCR to a Satellite Box

A video cassette recorder (VCR) uses two sets of composite audio-video cables to receive signals for recording and to play back recorded tapes on a connected television set. One set of cables connects the VCR to a source signal, such as a satellite receiver box, using the three color-coded plugs on one end of the cables. The set up takes less than five minutes.
    • 1

Turn off the satellite box and the VCR.

    • 2

Push the three colored connectors on one end of a composite AV cable into the matching red, yellow and white AV out jacks on the back of the satellite box.

    • 3

Connect the other ends to the AV inputs on the rear of the VCR.

    • 4

Connect the remaining composite AV cable to the three AV outputs on the VCR and a set of inputs on the TV.

    • 5

      Power on all components.

    • 6

Press the video source button on the TV remote to switch between VCR and satellite box input sources.
