How to Convert a CSV to an IPD File

If you have an address book stored in the comma separated value (CSV) file format, you may need to convert it to use it in your BlackBerry, as BlackBerry mobile devices utilize the IPD file format in their software address books. If you want to convert between these formats so that your address book can be stored on your BlackBerry, you can do so without any programs other than the BlackBerry native software and Outlook.

Click "Start," type "Outlook" and press "Enter."

    • 2

Click "File," "Open" and then "Import." Click "Import from another program or file" and then "Next." Click "Comma Separated Values (Windows)" and then "Next."

    • 3

Click "Browse." Locate and double-click your CSV file. Click "Next." Select "Contacts," "Next" and then "Finish."

    • 4

Connect your BlackBerry to your computer. The BlackBerry Desktop Software should automatically open (if it does not, launch it from the Start menu).

    • 5

Click "Organizer" and then "Setup." Click "Address Book" and then "Setup." Click "Microsoft Outlook." Click "Next" and then "Finish." Click "Sync." BlackBerry Desktop Manager will convert the CSV file to an IPD file.
