How to Create & Print Scrapbook Stuff for Free

Scrapbooking can be expensive, but you can cut your scrapbooking costs by creating and printing free scrapbook materials from websites on the Internet. Sites such as ScrapbookScrapbook, Annie Things Possible and Needlepointers.com offer many backgrounds and cutouts for you to choose from. With these many free options, you just need to pick your favorites, print them out and add them to your scrapbook. You can also create and print your own designs from sites such as CropMom and Smilebox.

      Go to ScrapbookScrapbook, Annie Things Possible or Needlepointers.com (see Resources). Each of these sites offers many free scrapbooking options.

      Click on a design. Choose from themed backgrounds, such as Thanksgiving or fall backgrounds, or choose cutouts to use in your scrapbook.

      Download your files. From ScrapbookScrapbook, click on your design and then click "Free Download." From Annie Things Possible, click on the chosen design and then click "File" and "Save As" from your browser's menu. From Needlepointers.com, scroll down until you see the .zip file and click on it to download the design.

      Print your design on your color printer and add it to your scrapbook.

    Create and Print Your Own Designs

      Go to the CropMom or Smilebox websites. From CropMom, create an account to get started. From Smilebox, download its free software to get started.

      Create your design. To do this at CropMom, click on "Create New Layout." Choose your background color, and then add your photos. Choose an arrangement from its design options. Select a theme and graphics to add under the "Choose Graphics" drop box. As of October 2010, CropMom offers 13 categories of graphics. Arrange them on the page any way you want to create your own design. Click the "Save" icon when you have completed your design. To create a design at Smilebox, download and install its free software. Choose a generic template from one of the many options, and then click "Personalize." Add your photos and choose a background color, font size, type and color. Click "Preview" when you have finished creating your page.

      Print your created scrapbook page. To do this from CropMom, click "My Crop Mom," and then click "Details" next to the layout you wish to print. CropMom allows you to download screen-quality layouts free. For print-quality layouts, as of October 2010, CropMom charges $1.99. After you have downloaded your selection, open it and click "File," "Print." To print from Smilebox, click "Share, Print or DVD." Select "Print/Save" and then select "Print All" or "Print This Page." Choose your printer to print out your design.
