Ensure the lights and engine of your car are switched off, the doors closed, handbrake on and that your seat belt is unbuckled before you begin.
- 2
Insert your key into the ignition and turn the key to "On," but do not start the engine.

Wait for the safety-belt alarm to sound, then buckle and unbuckle the seat belt three times, ending with the belt unbuckled.
- 4
Turn the headlights on and off.
- 5
Buckle and unbuckle your seat belt another three times. The safety-belt warning sign will be turned on for three seconds.
- 6
Wait for the warning light to go off. Buckle and unbuckle your seat belt once, within seven seconds of the warning light going off, to disable the seat-belt alarm.

How to Disable a Seatbelt Alarm
Seat belts are there for a purpose, and should really be worn at all times. However, having an alarm go off if you have not clipped your seat belt in after five seconds can feel like being a child again. One way of permanently disable the alarm is to cut the wires attached to your seat belt buckle. But most cars have an electronic override procedure allowing you to turn the alarm on and off.
