How to Disable the Timers for HP Ink
All Hewlett Packard ink cartridges have microchips installed that tell the printer when the cartridge expires. HP cartridges typically expire 2 years from their date of manufacture. After this date, the printer will no longer recognize the cartridge. While you can't permanently disable the timers in these cartridges, you can reset them each time you refill a cartridge, or want to use it past its expiration date. A universal method of resetting these timers is to cycle cartridges.
