How to File a Probate Search in Queens, New York

Searching for probate records in Queens, New York is as simple as contacting the Queens Clerk of Courts and requesting a probate search. The Queens County Clerk's office requires all search requests to be submitted in writing. Any case and/or record filed in the clerk's office is open to the public, with the exception of sealed cases and divorce actions.

      Write a letter stating your request for a probate search. State in your letter exactly which probate records you are searching for and the time frame in which the records were filed. If you are not privy to the exact date the court will do a two-year search. Each additional two-year search costs $5.

      Include a check in the correct amount of your search fees. One search is $10 and each additional search is $5. Make your check payable to the Queens County Clerk.
