How to Find Information on Stimulus Checks

Stimulus checks are non-taxable payments that were issued by the Internal Revenue Service to over 124 billion households from May through December 2008. These payments were not taxable and did not affect the amount you owe or the amount of your refund on your 2008 taxes. Most taxpayers were eligible for this $300 to $600 payment for individuals and $600 to $1,200 for couples. To receive the stimulus payment, it was necessary to file a tax return, even if you do not normally need to do so.
