How to Fix a Crackling Sound on the HP Pavilion DV 4-1120US

When using the computer, you have the option of connecting speakers to the system through the line-out port, or via the built-in speakers on the computer. However, if the computer's audio is crackling during playback, there is an issue with the audio signal and you need to troubleshoot the situation.

Turn down the audio on the HP laptop. If the volume is too loud for the speakers to handle the audio is going to crackle. Double-click the audio icon in the lower, right corner of the desktop, then slide-down the audio control features.

Play a different audio file. If this file does not crackle you know there is something wrong with the specific file. If the speakers continue to crackle there is a problem with the actual speakers.

Look over the speaker grooves on the top of the laptop. If there is any dirt or other debris stuck in the grooves you are going to experience the audio playback issue. Correct the issue by either wiping down the speaker grooves with a soft cloth or spray compressed air in for debris you are unable to reach.
