How to Hang Jabots With Curtains

Hanging curtains is an attractive option for a window treatment, but they often leave part of the curtain rod and hardware exposed. Curtain rods are necessary, but not usually attractive. Jabots are a decorative solution to the rods and hardware that show on your window treatments. They can be hung over curtains to hide the hardware and create a seamless window treatment. You need to hang them properly for them to work and provide the coverage you need.
    • 1

Lift your current curtain rod and pull outward to remove it from the brackets.

    • 2

Remove your single curtain rod brackets with a screwdriver.

    • 3

Fill the holes with wall compound and a putty knife. Smooth it completely to just fill the holes and allow it to dry according to the package instructions. This will give your new screws extra support to stay in the wall.

    • 4

Install your double curtain rod brackets where your old ones were, using the included screws and a screwdriver.

    • 5

Slide your jabots onto one of the curtain rods and your curtains onto the other. If the rod style you chose has two rods of different sizes, hang the jabots on the outer rod.

    • 6

Place the rods in place on the brackets according to the manufacturer's instructions.

    • 7

Fluff and arrange your jabot so that it hides and covers the hardware and the top of the curtains.
