How to Install a Charger Spoiler

The Dodge Charger was introduced in the 1960s during the muscle-car era. In order to compete with other cars, such as the Ford Mustang, the Charger had to be bold and fast. The Charger arrived onto the muscle-car scene with increased horsepower, sporting either a 318-horsepower V-8 or a 426-horsepower Hemi V-8. On the outside, the Charger appealed to many with its fastback profile until 1978, when production ceased. In 2006, the Dodge Charger was reintroduced and production continues. There are plenty of aftermarket options available for the Charger, including rear spoilers.

Wipe the exterior area where the spoiler will be positioned with isopropyl alcohol. This ensures that the area will be clean when the spoiler is installed.

    • 2

Open the trunk. If there is a fabric panel under the deck lid, remove it with a screwdriver. Take note of any wires and tape them aside, if necessary, before closing the trunk.

    • 3

Insert the T-strips included with spoiler kit into the spoiler's screw acceptors. This eliminates the need to manually measure and mark where the drill holes will be.

    • 4

Position the spoiler on the trunk. Tape down the ends of the T-strips and remove the spoiler. With the metal punch or driver, punch holes in the trunk where the T-strips designate.

    • 5

Remove the T-strips and drill holes through the punch marks. Clear away any debris remaining around the holes. Open the trunk and insert the screws from the inside. Spread some adhesive foam around the spoiler's screw acceptors.

Align the spoiler with the screws and tighten them from the inside of the trunk.
