Slide the flat-head screwdriver's head between the dome light and the ceiling. Wiggle the screwdriver to loosen the dome light. When the dome light is loose, pull it down from its place, and unplug the wire harness from the back.
- 2
Tuck the wires into the hole from where the dome light came, and place the mounting bracket over the hole. Position the mounting bracket so it lies flat against the ceiling. Use the carpenter's knife to cut the headliner around the mounting bracket. Remove the mounting bracket, then remove the cut-out piece of headliner. Removing the headliner helps in a flush installation and cuts down on vibrations.
- 3
Thread the wires through the opening on the mounting bracket, then place the mounting bracket back where it was on the ceiling where the headliner has been removed. Use a drill with a machine-tap drill bit to create mounting holes in the mounting bracket and into the ceiling. A machine-tap drill bit creates threaded holes that allow screws to enter and grip. Insert the mounting screws through the brackets into the ceiling holes, and tighten them with a Phillips-head screwdriver.
- 4
Plug the wire harness into the back of the DVD player, and slide the DVD player onto the mounting bracket.
