How to Program a Key Fob for a 2003 GM

Key FOBs and keyless entry remotes are common accessories on vehicles around the world, and they are available on most GM vehicles manufactured in 2003. These remotes allow safety and convenience for your vehicle, and you can program them yourself in minutes. Once programmed, they can control your door locks, your trunk release, your panic alarm and even an automatic engine starter if your car is equipped with one.

      Enter your car with your ignition key and remote, close all of the doors behind you and insert your key into the ignition.

      Press and hold the Unlock tab on the driver's door and cycle the ignition key "On" and back "Off" twice in a row.

      Release the Unlock tab and wait for the door locks to automatically cycle.

      Press and hold the Lock and Unlock buttons on your remote for up to 30 seconds until the locks cycle again.

      Remove the ignition key to end the programming sequence.
