How to Recycle Paper With Tape or Twine

Community recycling centers accept several kinds of paper products and the occasional accessories that come with them. Most recycling centers will take paper with staples still in the sheets, or even envelopes with clear plastic windows. You can easily recycle paper with tape on it, but you will need to remove any twine and find another use for it.

Contact your local recycling center to make sure they accept paper with tape on it.

    • 2

Remove any tape hanging off the edges of the paper. Excess tape may clog the machines in the recycling plant. If you have paper with twine on it, remove the twine and set it aside. You cannot recycle fiber or plastic twine.

    • 3

Place the paper with the tape in your curbside recycling bin for pick up, or take it to the recycling center yourself. Take it with the paper that had the twine on it.

Contact local barns or horse stables and see if they will accept your twine and recycle it for you. Barns can find a number of uses for twine, including baling hay, hanging feed buckets and tying livestock.

Wrap the twine around a small piece of 2 by 4 lumber and secure the ends with a stapler. Use the wrapped wood as a cat scratching post.

    • 6

Use the twine to secure any seedlings you plant to their stakes or trellis.
