How to Reduce the Buffer Size of Audio Drivers

You will notice buffering while watching a video or listening to music online. Buffer size means how much information your computer downloads until you are ready to view it. If the buffer size setting is too low, video or music will pause during playback. Internet speed also plays a big role in buffering problems. A media player has buffer settings that can be changed to reduce buffering.

      Open Windows Media Player by clicking the icon on your desktop or through the Start menu.

      Click "Rip" from the toolbar then select "More Options." The Options window opens.

      Click the "Performance" tab. Select "Buffer X seconds of content" in the "Network Buffering" section. Enter a smaller number, such as 3, if you want videos to start sooner. Put a larger number, such as 30, if you want videos to start later. Click "OK" to finish.
