How to Remove Bad Gas From a Tank

Bad gas in a gas tank can be from rust or dirt inside the gas tank or if the gas has been sitting in the tank for a long time. Not draining the gas from the tank can damage the carburetor, fuel injector and engine. On the bottom of the gas tank will be a hose that leads to the carburetor or fuel injector. This hose will be what you use to drain the gas from the tank.

Park the bike on level and turn the gas valve to the "Off" position. Place the bucket on the ground next to the engine.

Compress the metal hose clamp that connects the hose to the fuel injector or carburetor, using the pliers. Pull the hose off the carburetor or fuel injector. When you pull the hose, gas inside the hose will leak out.

Raise the bucket to the hose and turn the gas valve to the "On" position. Drain the gas into the bucket. Replace the hose the opposite way that you removed it.
