How to Remove the Rear Seat in a 1995 Mustang

The first Mustang was the 1965 model. The Mustang went through many design changes over the years, and the fourth generation Mustangs came out as 1994 models. The 1995 Mustang was little-changed from the all-new models introduced the year before. Some Mustang owners prefer to modify their cars in the interest of more power and speed. Reducing the weight of the car is one way to do this. Some owners remove the rear seat to install a rear seat delete kit. This shaves several pounds off of the car for a slight power advantage.

Move both bucket seats all the way forward on their tracks to make more working room in the rear passenger compartment.

    • 2

Locate both lower rear seat cushion retaining clips between the lower front edge of the cushion and the carpeted crossmember on both sides.

    • 3

Push down on each clip simultaneously and lift the front of the lower seat cushion straight up. Pull the cushion from the passenger compartment.

    • 4

Remove the two retaining screws from each of the clips that the lower seat cushion was attached to with an 8mm wrench. Remove the clips from the passenger area. (Note: Skip this step if you do not wish to remove the lower seat cushion clips.)

Fold the upper seat cushion down flat. Remove the upper retaining bolts on each side of the upper seat cushion assembly (revealed after folding the cushion down) with a socket and ratchet.

    • 6

Lift the upper seat cushion back to its upright position. Remove the lower retaining bolts with a socket and ratchet.

Use a helper if desired to lift the upper seat cushion assembly straight up. Remove the assembly from the passenger compartment.
