How to Remove a Remote Key Screw on a Honda Accord

The Honda Accord's keyless entry remote is a two-piece unit. The two pieces are held together by a small Phillips-head screw. To remove the screw, you'll need a small Phillips screwdriver. Removing the screw allows you to open the remote, according to the Accord's manual. Once the remote is opened, you may want to replace its battery or perform a repair to the unit.

  Examine the tip of your screwdriver. Match it up against the head of the screw on the Accord's key remote. Make sure the screwdriver isn't too big. Ideally, you'll use a small Phillips screwdriver from an eyeglass repair kit.

  Bring the Honda's remote to a table. Position it upside down, so that you are viewing the back cover. Insert the tip of the screwdriver into the screw head. Hold the remote firmly with your other hand to secure it.

  Turn the screwdriver counterclockwise to unscrew the screw. When the screw comes out, you can open the remote to repair it or replace its battery.
