How to Remove Vending Machines

A vending machine is a stationary device that sells various goods to consumers without the need for a cashier; products that are sold can range from candy and snacks to cigarettes or condoms. Because of their convenience, vending machines can be found in a number of places, but may also have to be moved or relocated for whatever reason. Vending machines are extremely heavy, but can be moved with the use of a hand truck.

  Open the machine and unload all the contents. This will lighten the load and prevent goods from being damaged. Store the contents in a plastic container until further use and close the machine.

  Unplug the machine from the wall socket. Roll up the chord and secure it tightly with duct tape.

  Position the hand truck at the center on the side of the machine. Place one hand near the top of the machine and push forward, tilting the machine slightly off the ground. Slide the hand truck platform under the machine and gently set the machine down.

  Secure the machine onto the hand truck with a strap that comes with most hand trucks. If a strap is not available, a link chain may be wound around the machine and tightly padlocked to the bars on the hand truck.

  Keep one hand firmly on the hand truck's handle and one hand on top of the machine. Keep one foot on the bar located near the bottom of the hand truck. Slowly tilt the machine toward the hand truck, balancing the weight until the machine is resting on the hand truck's platform. The hand truck can now be rolled to its new location to be stored or hauled away.
