How to Repair High-Pressure Hoses

Pressure hoses use engines to compress water transmitted through the hose. They create a pressurized stream of water, good for cleaning excessive dirt and grime buildup on surfaces. As the name implies, pressure hoses contain a lot of internal pressure, causing it to be susceptible to leaks and tears. If you spring a leak in a pressure hose, traditional repair methods like tape or epoxy do not suffice. A pressure washer hose is best repaired by cutting out the leak and replacing it with a new coupling.
    • 1

Unplug the hose from electrical outlets and cut off power supply if it is running.

    • 2

Press the hose trigger to discharge excess water, if there is any.

    • 3

Locate the leak or puncture in the hose and dry off the area around it.

    • 4

Grab your scissors and cut the hose on each side of the leak. Be sure the cut is clean and straight across.

    • 5

Insert male repair coupling at one end of the hose and female coupling to the other side of the hose. Crimp the ends and fasten any compression rings if necessary.

    • 6

Connect both couplings together and tighten securely with your pliers.
