How to Replace a Honda Key

Honda Motor Company is a Japanese manufacturer of motorcycles and automobiles. Popular vehicles include the Civic, Accord, CRV, Pilot and Element. An ignition key or key fob is required to lock and unlock the doors and power and start the vehicle. Replacement keys are often necessary if the original set has been lost or damaged. The keys must be ordered from an authorized Honda dealership or service center due to a built-in, anti-theft chip.

      Navigate to Honda.com and click the "Locate a Dealer" link located on the right side of the page.

      Call the nearest Honda dealership and service center for a price quote for the replacement key.

      Visit the local service center. Provide the service representative with your key code, vehicle registration, vehicle title, VIN number and driver's license. The key code was provided with the original paperwork for your key and is needed to cut the specific key for your car. If you do not have the key code, call the dealer where you purchased you Honda and see if it has the key code on file.
