How to Replace My Visa Debit Card

Your Visa debit card has seen better days. It's almost torn in two and can only be successfully swiped if a cashier says a prayer before running it. Perhaps your card was lost or, what every Visa card owner fears most, stolen. There is no need to panic, as Visa and banks make it easy to cancel and replace these debit cards.

      Cancel the existing card immediately. Time is of the essence if your Visa card has been lost or stolen. According to Visa, calling their Global Customer Care Service at 1-800-VISA-911 will allow you to cancel the card and report it lost or stolen.       Call the bank you received the card from to get a replacement. According to Wells Fargo, calling the bank directly will allow you to order a new card, which you will receive in seven to 10 business days. (reference 1)

      Visit your bank's local branch to replace the card. According to Hub Pages, (reference 2) the entire process of canceling a card, replacing it and receiving a temporary card to be used in the interim can be done in person at your bank. According to Hub Pages, Bank of America will furnish customers with a temporary ATM card good for 30 days, which should be more than enough time for your replacement card to arrive in the mail.
