Finding the signal strength.
- 1
Power on the Dish Network receiver. Go to the "Point Dish" screen in the menu, from the setup tab. You will find this by pressing the menu button on the remote control. Press 6-1-1 on the remote, and this opens up the "Point Dish" screen for Dish Network.
- 2
This screen will show a strength meter and emit an audible tone. Enter your zip code on this screen to obtain proper azimuth and elevation angles. Write these down.
- 3
Have a friend stand by the receiver during adjustments to let you know when it's pointed correctly.
Adjusting the Dish
- 1
Take the azimuth and elevation angles you've written down outside to the dish. Loosen the nuts for elevation slightly.
- 2
Align the elevation using the arrow on the elevation adjustment to the specifications and tighten the nuts back.
- 3
Loosen the nuts for the azimuth adjustment and set to the proper angle. Tighten the nuts.
- 4
Repeat fine adjustments until you have a signal strength of 70 to 80 percent on satellite 119. Once 119 is in this percentage range, satellite 110 will also be aligned.
