How to Set Up a Remote for pcAnywhere

PcAnywhere is a Symantec program that lets you remotely access a computer through a network or Internet connection. When you first install the pcAnywhere program on a computer that you want to use to gain remote access to other computers, you have to set up a "remote," or a connection shortcut to a specific remote computer.

  Open pcAnywhere and then click on the "Go to Advanced View" link. Click on the "Remotes" section.

  Click on "File," click "New Item" and then click "Advanced ..."

  Click the "Settings" button, and then type in the name or Internet protocol address of the remote computer you want to control in the "Network host PC to control or IP address" box.

  Click on the "OK" button, type in a name for the remote and press "Enter."
