How to Set Up Tethering With an XV6700

The UTStarcom XV6700 is a Pocket PC smartphone that runs on the Windows Mobile 5 operating system. Designed specifically for use on Verizon Wireless, the phone includes features like WiFi, Bluetooth and EV-DO. Users looking to tether the phone as a modem can do so by purchasing third-party applications for their phone such as PdaNet, WMWifiRouter and USB Modem.

      Connect your phone to your PC. Download PdaNet. There is a free 7-day trial, then you will need to purchase the full version. Install PdaNet by double-clicking on the downloaded file and following the on-screen prompts. The software will also install on your phone. Click on the PdaNet tray icon in Windows and select "Connect."

      Connect your phone to your PC. Download the trial version of WMWifiRouter. Double-click the .exe file you downloaded to launch the installer. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete installation. A Setup Wizard will pop up and automatically detect your settings. When the wizard is complete you will be connected.

      Download and install the trial version of USB Modem. Follow the Setup Wizard to complete installation. Connect your phone to your PC. Launch USB Modem and select "USB" from the Connection list. The Found New Hardware Wizard will pop-up, select "No, not this time." Choose to "Install from a Specific Location" and then browse to the "drivers\windows" folder. Click "Continue Anyway." Your USB Modem drivers are now properly installed.
