How to Siphon Gas From a '98 Honda Civic

Knowing how to siphon gas from your 1998 Honda Civic can be a helpful. You can siphon gas before a fuel tank repair, to transfer gas from one car to another or drain your gas tank before selling it. This method can also be used for siphoning water out of fish tanks or other vessels that hold liquid.

  Insert one end of the clear tube into the gas tank.

  Continue threading the tubing into the tank until you feel resistance.

  Put you gas can or bucket on the ground, lower than your gas tank. The vessel you are moving the gas into needs to be lower than the vessel from which you are removing liquid.

  Remove any kinks from the clear tube and insert the other end of the tub into your mouth. Suck on the tub until the gas comes within an inch of your mouth. The clear tubing is useful for this task so that you can see the gas before it reaches your mouth.

  Place your thumb over the opening of the tube in your mouth quickly.

  Point the tube down close to the opening of the gas can or bucket. Remove your thumb and place the tube into the gas can or bucket. Allow the gas to flow into the gas can or bucket until the tube no longer has gas in it.
