Empty the room you want to texture, or cover the surfaces with a drop cloth. Tape around furniture to create a seal. Spraying drywall can be dusty and messy.
- 2
Mix your spray texture with water in your bucket. To do this, follow the ratio of water to spray texture recommended by the manufacturer of your spray texture. Stir the mixture with the paint stick until well mixed. Different size hoppers hold different amounts of mixture. Only mix enough to use within 1 hour to avoid the mixture drying out too much.
- 3
Attach your hopper to your hopper gun, and tighten the clamp around the bottom of the hopper. Pour the mixture into the hopper gun.
- 4
Practice on pieces of cardboard until you achieve the consistency you want. Experiment with different settings on your hopper gun until you find the one you are happy with.
- 5
Spray your walls slowly, and allow the texture to dry for about 24 hours before painting.

How to Spray Texture With a Hopper Gun
Spray texture onto your ceilings or walls quickly by using a hopper gun. You can use this texture method to repair walls or to create a whole new look for your room. Spraying texture can help hide cosmetic problems on your walls. This method is popular for creating the common "orange peel" texture for walls.
