Every parent wants to capture her child's milestone moments on film. Snapping pictures that tell the story of an event are cherished memories that can be shared for years. The first day of kindergarten is the moment many kids begin school and a lifetime of learning. A parent only gets one shot at taking the perfect pictures that capture this momentous day. A few tips will help you take the memorable photos that will last a lifetime.

Choose multiple locations to take the photographs. Take some in the morning at home while getting ready, waiting for the bus, in front of the school and in the classroom.

Take staged shots along with candid pictures. Candid pictures of your child getting ready, walking on to the school bus or putting their things away in his classroom without a posed smile will allow you to capture more meaning for the day.

When aiming your camera, take pictures from different angles and perspectives. Aim your camera, so your subject is off-center or eye-level or shoot from below. Photos taken from different angles give the pictures movement.

Play with your camera's functions and use the flash and natural lighting. After taking a picture if the picture comes out blurry or the color isn't right, try turning the flash off or on or change the settings on the camera to suit the location. The subject also can move if there is a light source around her creating a problem with the color quality.
