How to Test the Thuraya FDU-3500

Use the Thuraya FDU-3500 dual telephone and speakerphone set to engage in calls in multiple formats in several ranges. Before incorporating the phone into your everyday life, you'll want to make sure it's functioning to its full capabilities. Learn to turn the FDU-3500 on, recognize an incoming call, answer calls using each of the three devices (speakerphone, regular handset and extension phone), place a call using each of the three devices, end a call using each of the three devices, and transfer calls between the devices.

During an incoming call, you should hear a ring tone from the FDU-3500 in both the speaker and the extension phone. The LED light on top of the FDU-3500 should also flash during an incoming call. You can answer the phone one of three ways: using the speakerphone (push the speaker button), picking up the handset or picking up the extension phone.

Place a call using the speakerphone, the handset or the extension phone. Make a speakerphone call by dialing the number you wish to call on the handset keypad (with the handset in its carrier) and pressing the call button on the handset. Make a call from the handset by picking it up, listening for the dial tone, dialing the number on the keypad and pressing the call button. Make a call from the extension phone by picking it up, waiting to hear the dial tone, dialing the number, then pressing the star or pound key after dialing the last digit of the number. You can't make a call from the extension phone without pushing the pound or star key after you've dialed the number.

Transfer calls from one device to the other. Transfer a call from the speakerphone to the handset by picking up the handset during the call. The call will automatically transfer. Transfer a call from the handset to the speakerphone by pressing the speakerphone button during the call and watch for the blinking LED light. When the light begins to blink, hang up the phone. The call should have transferred to the speakerphone. Transfer a call from the speakerphone to the extension phone by picking up the extension phone. Transfer a call from the extension phone to the speakerphone by pressing the speakerphone button, waiting for the speakerphone LED to blink, then hanging up the extension phone.
