How to Troubleshoot an HP 9250C Digital Sender

The HP 9250C Digital Sender is a device that will convert documents and photographs into digital or electronic form. The converted documents or photographs are then able to be sent, over the Internet or an internal network, to a specific destination. However, various problems will require fixing as they occur with the machine. These include display errors, a paper jam or an incorrect Gateway address.
  • Internal Clock Error

      Press the "OK" button on the control panel to continue.

      Press the "Administration" button to view the on-screen menu. Press the "Down" button to scroll through the menu. Highlight the option for "Time/Scheduling."

      Press the "Time/Scheduling" option to view the menu. Press the "+" sign that is next to "Date/Time" to view the "Date Format" sub-menu.

      Pick the format to use for the date, such as "YYYY/MM/DD." The "YYYY" is the year, the "MM" is the current month, and "DD" is the current day.

      Enter the current date in the "Date" sub-menu. Select the time format you prefer from the "Time Format" sub-menu. Enter the current time.

      Press the "Home" button to exit the menu.

    Paper Jam

      Press the "Release" button on the back edge of the unit to open the ADF cover.

      Look and see if there is any paper that is stuck inside the machine. Pull out any paper that is inside and any pieces that are torn, to clear the jam.

      Close the ADF cover.

    Verify SMPT Address

      Click the "Start" menu, and type "cmd" in the search box. Press the "Enter" key to open a DOS prompt.

      Type "cd..." and press the "Enter" key. Repeat this step to go to the root of the C drive.

      Type "telenet" and the SMPT Gateway address for the machine. Press the "space bar" and type "25" for the port number.

    • 4

      Press the "Enter" key to verify that the Gateway address is valid. If an error message occurs, the Gateway address is incorrect.
