How to Troubleshoot a Proform 785 F

The Proform 785 F is an elliptical exercise machine, designed for use in a home gym and fitness center environments. The Proform 785 F includes a computer console display, pulse sensors on the handgrips, a fan, a water bottle holder and wide foot plates on the pedals to accommodate a variety of foot sizes. The elliptical machine should operate well with some basic precautions, such as operating the device in a clean, dry area and always wearing proper athletic clothing and footwear. If problems do occur, performing some troubleshooting might help find the problem and offer a potential solution.

      Connect the Proform 785 to a grounded power outlet and ensure the power cord is firmly connected to the machine if the machine is not turning on. Make sure the power button is turned "On" prior to use.

      Dry hands with a towel and grip the heart rate sensors lightly if the heart rate sensors do not appear to be working or seem to be displaying an inaccurate heart rate.

      Place feet on the pedals and begin to pedal if the machine turns off suddenly after a period of inactivity. The machine is set to turn off automatically if no motion is detected.

      Increase the pedal resistance if the workout feels too easy or the pedals are moving too quickly. Push the "Resistance Increase" button until the desired level is reached. Push the "Resistance Decrease" button if the pedals are difficult to move or the workout feels too difficult.

      Press the "Fan" button several times to turn the fan on or off or if the fan was turned on and stops unexpectedly. The fan is programmed to turn off automatically if no motion is detected on the machine.
