How to Troubleshoot the Windows Search Index
A personal computer is like a "personal database" for most users, storing all things digital in people's lives. The Windows Search Index is therefore, the "database management system." You might have familiarity with more formal databases, such as looking up books on the computer at the public library or using an ATM to do personal banking; these activities use functions similar to the search index. If this index runs slowly or malfunctions, then your database is nearly useless. The search index is a part of Windows 7, and you can use a native troubleshooting tool to fix it.
