How to Unlock a Verizon GPS

Verizon offers its customers access to a GPS system via its Omnia mobile phones. However, if the phone you currently own contains a lock that prevents you from using GPS, you must unlock your device before you can access this feature. If you understand how to go online and work in your Windows Mobile Device Center, you can unlock your Verizon GPS.

  Go to the Web page of your phone manufacturer. (See Resources.) Download the required software updates onto your laptop or desktop.

  Launch the Windows Mobile Device Center you have on your computer.

  Connect your Omnia mobile phone to your laptop or desktop via a USB (Universal Serial Bus) cable. This enables your machine to recognize your mobile phone without any assistance from you.

  Click your mouse on the upgrade utility symbol on your computer to update your Verizon Omnia device.

  Remove your mobile phone from the USB connection and proceed to use your GPS system as a navigation tool.
