How to Use an HP 49G Calculator

The HP 49G is a powerful graphing calculator useful in many advanced mathematics and science fields. The innovative Complex Algebraic System (CAS) feature makes performing complex equations easier; USB connections allow you to transfer information from your computer or from another calculator onto your HP 49G. Despite the complexity of the HP 49G, with a few basic skills you can take full advantage of all that the 49G has to offer.

  Turn on the HP 49G by pressing the "ON" key on the lower left of the calculator.

  Use the arithmetic keys to perform simple equations. The division, multiplication, subtraction and addition keys span the lower right side of the button panel. Use the "Enter" key in place of an "=" key on a traditional calculator.

  Turn the HP 49G off by holding down the right-shift key on the bottom left of the calculator followed by the "ON" key. You should see the HP 49G's screen go dark.
