How to Use Reward Points on a WAMU Credit Card

If you previously held a credit card issued by Washington Mutual, you now have a credit card issued by Chase. When Chase purchased WAMU, it reissued cards bearing the Chase logo, and that made WAMU credit card holders eligible for the Chase Rewards program. This popular program allows credit card users to earn points toward gift certificates, merchandise and other rewards. After accumulating all those rewards, cardholders can log on to their accounts and choose the rewards they want.

  Enroll your former WAMU credit card in the Chase Rewards program by going to the Chase.com website. Go to the "Personal Banking" menu, choose "Credit Cards" and select the "Enroll Online" link. Enter your credit card account number and identifying information when prompted, then create your user ID and password.

  Log on to your credit card account using the ID and password you just created. Click the "My Account" link and choose "Show Rewards" from the list. Review the points you have earned and click "Redeem" to see what you can get for those points.

  Choose the category you want to browse. You can choose cash, gift cards and merchandise for the Chase Rewards points you have accumulated. If you do not have enough points to get the gift you want, continue to use your card until you accumulate more points.

  Verify your name and address to order your reward. Review the point total for your reward, then click "Submit" to send the order for processing. You will receive an email from Chase verifying the order and the number of points redeemed, then another email when the gift ships.
