How to Use a WM Recorder on Imeem

If you're one of the many Imeem users confused since MySpace's corporate takeover, you're probably wondering what will happen to your playlists. Some Imeem fans have complained that the playlists they took years to build have simply vanished since the transition to MySpace Music. Don't let this happen to you: save your favorite songs with stream-ripping software. WM Recorder is a stream recording program that will record nearly any audio or video source playing through your computer. As of November 2010, WM Recorder costs $49.95, but there is a limited trial version you can download for free (see Resources).

Download and install the WM Recorder software. Follow the on-screen prompts to configure the program. If you need help with this, check out the quick video tutorial in References below.

    • 2

Launch WM Recorder from your desktop, and wait a few moments while the program automatically checks your Internet connection. When you see "OK," you're ready to go.

    • 3

Open a new Internet browser, surf to myspace.com/imeem and log in to your user account.

    • 4

Click "My Playlists" and play the songs you want to record as you normally would. WM Recorder begins recording instantly when it detects an audio source: you do not have to press any buttons or interact with the software.

    • 5

Check on the status of your recording in the WM Recorder status window. Highlight the currently recording file and right-click on it. Several options will then be available: you can set the recording duration for any amount of time, preview or rename the file or convert it to another format such as WAV, MP3 or WMA.

Click "Stop" to end recording. You can listen to the songs you just recorded by clicking "Play" from the main WM Recorder console window.
