How to View TIF Images on the Verizon Palm Treo 700WX

The file extension TIF or TIFF, which stands for Tagged Image File Format, is used for archiving image files. It is a commercially used image standard for various computer operating systems, including Macintosh, Windows and Unix. However, it is not supported by many handheld devices as of 2010, including the Verizon Palm Treo 700WX. That doesn't mean a Treo 700WX user cannot view the file. You can convert the file format to a supported format, such as JPEG, GIF, BMP or PNG, to view TIF images on the Palm Treo 700WX.

  Download and install an image converting software such as Image Converter Plus, ReaJPEG or Total Image Converter (see Resources for links) on a computer. These applications let you convert TIF to JPEG and work similarly.

  Run the downloaded application after installing it on the computer. Upload the desired TIF file from the computer and select "JPEG" as the output file format. Confirm you want to convert it, and save the file on the computer's desktop.

  Connect the Treo 700WX to the computer by using the USB data cable. Navigate to "Start" > "My Computer" > "Palm Treo" (or any other name you have given the device). Navigate to the "Pictures & Videos" sub folder in the "Palm Treo" folder.

  Drag and drop the converted image file from the desktop to the "Pictures & Videos" folder. When it finishes copying, disconnect the USB cable.

  Navigate to the "Start" menu on the Palm Treo.

  Select "Pictures & Videos."

  Choose the converted image file from the thumbnails, and press "OK." The file will now be viewable on the Palm Treo.
