How to Work as an LPN for Medicaid

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is part of the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The federal government partially funds Medicaid and oversees state programs. Each individual state is responsible for administering its own Medicaid program. All 50 states must operate within CMS guidelines. CMS headquarters are in Baltimore, Maryland, and Washington, D.C.; regional offices are located in 10 states throughout the country. State Medicaid headquarters are usually located within the state's HHS at the state capital. Regional offices are located in counties throughout the state. Therefore, Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) who work for Medicaid also work for the state or federal government.
