Like Hewlett-Packard's other OfficeJet printers, the OfficeJet 6300 all-in-one printer has the ability to print, copy, fax and scan documents. The printer uses inkjet print technology to produce printouts, and receives faxes and copies of documents. You must connect the printer to a working phone line to use its fax capabilities.
Printing and Copying

The OfficeJet 6300 has a maximum print resolution of 1,200 by 1,200 dots per inch when printing with only black ink. The print resolution increases to 4,800 dots per inch when printing in full color. The printer can produce as many as 30 monochromatic printouts per minute and 24 color printouts per minute. The printer's maximum monthly print volume is 3,000 pages. As for the Officejet 6300's copy functions, the printer can produce up to 100 copies from an original document at a time. The printer can shrink an original to as small as 25 percent its original size or as large as 400 times its original size. The copier has a maximum resolution of 600 by 1,200 dots per inch.
Faxing and Scanning

The printer's fax capabilities include a 110-number speed dial memory and a 120-page memory. The fax transmission speed tops out at 33.6 kilobytes per second, allowing the printer to send a page in as little as three seconds. The maximum resolution for faxed documents is 300 by 300 dots per inch. The printer's scanner has a maximum optical resolution of 2,400 by 4,800 dots per inch, which increases digitally to 19,200 dots per inch. The scanner is TWAIN-compliant and also comes with Optical Character Recognition software, allowing users to edit scanned text. The scanner can handle paper that measures a maximum 8.5 inches by 11.7 inches.

The printer comes with memory card slots that are compatible with Memory Sticks, Memory Stick Duos, Compact Flash cards, Memory Stick Pros, SD cards, MultiMedia Cards and picture cards. The printer measures 9.29 inches tall, 17.95 inches wide and 12.83 inches deep. The printer, without media loaded in it, weighs 16.9 pounds. HP recommends operating the printer in an environment with temperatures between 59 and 90 degrees with a relative humidity between 15 and 85 percent.
Media Handling

The printer can handle plain paper, label sheets, transparencies, cards, legal paper, envelopes and photo paper. The printer can handle media that measures at least 4 by 6 inches and at most 8.5 by 14 inches.
