HP Laserjet 1020 Instructions

The HP LaserJet 1020 is one of the many laserjet printers manufactured and developed by Hewlett Packard. It can print 15 pages per minute. Before using the HP LaserJet 1020 printer, you first have to set up, install and configure the printer to the computer.

      Install the printer cartridge. Open the top access door of the printer. If the printer is new, remove all the orange packing tapes that covers some of the printer's internal parts. Remove all packing tapes that covers the toner cartridge that you are about to install to the printer.

      Rock the toner cartridge back and forth before installing it to the printer. This is to evenly distribute the toner inside the cartridge. Place the toner cartridge into the printer carriage and close the top access door.

      Connect the power cable into the power port at the back of the printer and then plug the other end of the cable into a working power outlet. Turn on the printer. Note that you do not have to connect the USB cable during cartridge installation. You will be asked to connect the data cable during software installation.

      Place the HP 1020 printer installation CD into the CD/DVD-ROM of the computer and wait for the installer to launch automatically. If the installer does not launch automatically, click "Start," "Computer" and then double-click "CD/DVD" drive. Double-click the "Setup" file to run the installer.

      Follow the installation instructions that will appear on your screen. Wait to be prompted to connect the USB cable from the printer into a USB port in your computer. Follow further instructions until you finish the installation process. Reboot the computer.

      Load paper into the paper tray and open the file that you want to print to start printing documents.
