HP Notebook nc6000 Specs

• The HP Compaq nc6000 business notebook is a discontinued HP laptop model from the early 2000s. HP made the computer with business people in mind and it was comparable to other brands' models of business laptops. The functionality of the nc6000 was up-to-date at the time, but no longer qualifies the computer as a competitive business laptop.

Dimensions

• The HP nc6000 notebook has a 14.1-inch display measured diagonally, according to HP. The computer has a width of 12.51 inches, a length of 10.31 inches and a thickness of 1.27 to 1.34, depending on which part of the computer is measured. The weight of the computer varies depending on the size of the battery and what components the individual computer has, but it generally weights around 5 lbs.

Operating System

• HP sold the nc6000 with Windows XP Home or Windows XP Professional, although the owner could change the operating system after purchasing the computer.

Processors

• HP made the nc6000 business notebook with several different processors: the Intel Pentium M 725, 735, 745 or 755 processor. Some came with an Intel 855PM Chipset instead of an Intel Pentium M processor.

RAM

• The standard amount of RAM for an HP nc6000 is 256 MB or 512 MB, but owners can add extra RAM. The computer can accommodate up to 2048 MB, according to HP.

According to HP, users can have an extra eight-cell battery to extend the computer's battery life. A six-cell battery gives the computer a battery life of up to five hours, while an eight-cell battery provides power for up to 6.5 hours. HP warns that the battery life of the computer depends on the computer usage and configuration.

• The HP nc6000 supports several types of LAN wireless including Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) support, Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) support and support for 802.11a, b and g. It also has Bluetooth capabilities.

• This computer comes with an SD card slot, PC card slots, volume buttons, an infrared port, plug-in spots for headphones and speakers, a built-in microphone and plug-in spots for two USB, VGA, s-video, RJ-45, serial and parallel cords.
