Humorous Gifts for a Family Reunion

    • Create a fun family tree as a gift for your next reunion. family tree image by Judy Ben Joud from Fotolia.com

Family reunions provide intrinsic entertainment because of the different personalities who attend. It's inevitable that one of your funny uncles or cousins will lighten up the occasion with humorous stories and anecdotes. Add to the humor of the occasion by offering a funny gift to your guests. You can give away a keepsake or incorporate a trinket into a game. Either way, your guests leave with a fond memory of your family and the reunion.

    T-Shirts

    • Make team T-shirts and pass them out to everyone as they arrive at the reunion. Either make simple "Team (fill in our last name)" shirts or make a play on a shared last name if it works, such as "Good Times" if your last name is Good. Find options online to save money for printing in bulk.

    Gift Basket

    • Gather a collection of humorous items for a gift basket. Think about funny memories your family shares and choose items that will bring back these positive emotions. For example, if your family loves to play cards together, arrange a casino-themed basket with a family picture honoring "Best Player," "Most Improved" and "Biggest Bluffer."

"Better Homes and Gardens" suggests adding practical pieces to the basket such as a master guest list to include where everyone can be reached, and a schedule of events that lists everything your guests can expect during the reunion.

    Funny Family Tree

    • Organize a simple family tree on your computer showcasing the people you know will attend the reunion. Cut out the heads from pictures of funny shots and paste them in their places on the tree. Check out a sign shop to have the tree printed on magnets.

    Who's Who Game

    • After everyone arrives for the celebration, gather everyone together and give away gifts for the winners of different categories. Buy some mini trophies at a party supply store and label them with "Traveled Farthest" and "Most Changed Since the Last Reunion." Try to incorporate as many family members as possible in the categories so everyone feels included.

    White Elephant Exchange

    • Instead of buying items for everyone, have your attendees join in on the gift-giving fun. Even if it isn't Christmas, ask your guests to bring a small gift for an exchange game. As your family members fight over the most desired gift, laughter naturally occurs and your guests will all leave with a gift and a smile.
