Japan's most important export products are of an industrial, technological nature and include cars, electronics and computers. Because Japan does not sustain a strong agricultural industry, production and trade of those items is critical for the acquisition of most agricultural and raw materials. The global economic downturn has had a negative impact on Japanese production and profit.
Cars

The Japanese automotive industry encompasses production of cars, trucks, motorcycles and buses, and is one of the most important and well-known export industries in the country. Manufacturers include Yamaha, Suzuki, Toyota, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Mazda, Isuzu, Kawasaki and Honda.
Electronics

Electronics manufacturers such as Canon, Toshiba, Fujitsu and Hitachi are among the primary Japanese producers of electronics exports. These companies make numerous consumer goods, including everything from stereos and television sets to toasters and washing machines.
Computers

Many Japanese electronics companies, including Fujitsu, Seiko and Toshiba, also manufacture computers and software for export and domestic sales. As of 2009, industry statistics show the Japanese computer industry maintaining a competitive status with the U.S. industry in shipments and market share.
