Nissan's hybrid cars are available in nine states. gear image by BaSSaBaS from Fotolia.com As of October, 2010, Nissan makes its hybrid car, the Altima Hybrid, only available in nine states. The 2011 model will also be limited to those same nine states, as will the new Nissan LEAF, Nissan's all-electric vehicle debuting in 2011. Come 2012, however, Nissan plans to make their hybrid and electric cars available nationwide.
California

Nissan Altima hybrid cars are available at a number of dealerships in south and north California. California leads the way in hybrid availability because of its strict emissions standards. Indeed, the other eight states that carry Nissan Altima hybrids have adopted the same emissions standards as California.
