Instructions for the Black & Decker Electric Weed Eater ST4000

The Black & Decker ST4000 is an electric trimmer and edger featuring a 3.5-AMP power source and bump feeding technology. The 180-degree rotating head makes the ST4000 an effective tool for yard maintenance you are unable to complete with a standard lawnmower. The ST4000 features an adjustable head, which allows you to use the device as a general trimmer and as an edger around sidewalks and flower beds.

Operating as a Trimmer

  Connect the ST4000 to the extension cord. Grip the trimmer with one hand on the power button and the other on the hand grip.

  Hold the trimmer at a 20-degree angle to the area you are trimming.

  Press and hold the power button and slide the trimmer back and forth over the cutting area.

  Tap the head of the trimmer on the ground to release more string.

As an Edger

  Unplug the ST4000 from the power source and press the release button.

  Rotate the motor housing until the ST4000 snaps into place. Plug the ST4000 into the power source.

  Hold the trimmer by the throttle and hand grip with the edger roughly 2 inches above the ground.

  Press and hold the power button, and slowly guide the edger down the sidewalk to create a distinct edge.
