Left 4 Dead Strategies

    • "Left 4 Dead" is a team-based first-person shooter video game developed by Turtle Rock Studios for Xbox 360 and PC. Set in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by hordes of infected zombies, the game places the player in control of four survivors, all different in their abilities. By utilizing the characters, a player must destroy zombies en route to various checkpoints, essentially employing shoot-and-run tactics.

    Cooperation

    • It is vital to stay together -- avoid running off from the group. A group of zombies can attack at any point, and if you do not have anyone to assist you, whether in shooting the enemy or resuscitating you, you will die frequently. Choose a strategic point that has plenty of bonus items, such as ammo and weapons upgrades, and make your way there in a group as quickly as possible. Although exploring the area can be interesting, it is full of danger. At your strategic point, you can dig in and hold the area from attackers, using your bonuses to shoot until all are dead. Make sure you are standing with your back to a wall, so that enemies cannot circle you. Spread weapons around the group, so that each character has a unique explosive or gun. You will need different weapons for different challenges.

    Guns

    • Use the pistol; although it is not a powerful weapon, it has infinite ammo and is good enough to down the basic zombie peons. This way you will save the ammo of better weapons, such as the assault rifle, for use on the bigger opponents. The pistol is also useful for head shots at close range, which will kill a basic zombie in one shot, and for faraway targets due to its long-range accuracy. When using the shotgun, allow the zombies to swarm toward you, letting them come as close as possible. A close-range shot will take down a whole group, saving you ammunition. You can also use the melee attack in close quarters. Remember that when using the sniper, there is no head-shot potential. A sniper shot will kill a zombie with one shot wherever it hits.

    Explosives

    • Pipe bombs will attract the infected, which makes them powerful detractors. Wait until zombies rush in before throwing it for maximum impact. Funnel attackers through a tight or enclosed area while backing up, and then release the pipe bomb. Finish off the rest with pistol head shots. This should be the standard strategy against large hordes. Do not waste the Molotov cocktail on basic zombies; it should be used on tanks and witches since it will light them on fire, allowing you to back off and finish them with gun shots.
