Maytag Dryer Installation Instructions

Installing a new Maytag dryer in your house is a straightforward process that can be accomplished in minimal time. Installing the dryer yourself will save you significant money on installation fees. The process involves attaching the leveling feet, power cord and dryer vent. All Maytag dryers have slightly different installation instructions, so refer to the installation manual that came with your specific dryer. To install the dryer you will need a Maytag dryer installation kit, which includes the power cord and necessary screws. The installation kit can be purchased when you purchase your dryer.

Remove your Maytag dryer from its packaging. Lie the dryer on its back. Screw the leveling feet into their slots on the bottom of the dryer. Screw the legs in until the diamond marking on the legs is no longer visible. If you have difficulty screwing the legs in, use an adjustable wrench for additional leverage. Raise the dryer so it is right-side up. Slide it near the installation area.

Remove the screw holding the terminal block cover in place. The cover is typically located in the center of the dryer's rear panel. Connect the power cord to the dryer. Remove the screws on the terminal block and connect the wires on the end of the power cord to the block. The white wire on the cord should be connected to the center port on the block and the green wire should be screwed into the grounding hole on the dryer's chassis. The remaining wires on the power cord should be connected to the outside ports on the terminal block. Replace the terminal block cover.

Connect the dryer vent to the exhaust port on the back of the dryer. The exhaust port is located on the dryer's back panel, near the bottom. Slide a metal circular clamp over the end of the dryer vent. Slide the vent over the exhaust port and tighten the screw on the metal clamp to hold it in place.

Slide the dryer back against the wall. Lay a carpenter's level on top of the dryer to ensure it is level. If the dryer is not level, adjust the leveling feet on the bottom of the dryer until it is level. Plug the power cord into the electrical outlet.
