Ohio County Associations

    • County government, the local level of process and procedural jurisdiction, serves as the root for operations throughout a state. In Ohio, which has 88 counties, each county is responsible for the cities, towns and residents contained within its boundaries. Organizations and associations for county officials and operations help bring county governments together to work together towards common goals relevant to the state.

    Ohio Association of County Boards

    • The Ohio Association of County Boards is a member association that has representation from all 88 counties. The goal of the organization, founded in 1983, is to promote county efforts for residents with disabilities. Each county has a County Board of Developmental Disabilities. This association is the group effort of the primary representatives of each of those boards. The purpose of the association is to support such boards in areas of public policy, legislative interaction, information gathering and sharing and overall administrative functions as they relate to serving county residents in need of services for those with disabilities.

    County Commissioners Association of Ohio

    • The County Commissioners Association of Ohio is the primary organization where all county commissioners work together in an effort to strengthen their respective positions and learn from one another in regard to running their counties in a more effective manner. All but one county in Ohio have a board of county commissioners, and everyone is represented via this organization. The primary goal of the group is in both management and administration of county government.

    County Auditors' Association of Ohio

    • Founded in 1867, the County Auditors' Association of Ohio remains one of the longest-standing county official representative organizations in the state. The member-run association comprises county auditors from each of the 88 counties. The group focuses on financial and fiduciary rules, responsibilities, issues and goals that are directly related to county auditors. This group serves as the liaison between taxpayers and the county officials who collect and spend tax revenue.

    Ohio County/City Information Technology Association

    • Founded in 1991, just as the information technology revolution was picking up steam at the county government level; the Ohio County/City Information Technology Association came in to existence as a way to aid county officials in their technology needs. Counties, through this organization, can use one another's technology initiatives for the purposes of sharing information, data gathering, data analysis and data storage. As technology further permeates county government groups such as OCITA continue to support its members in their continual quest for education, information and assistance in both understanding and using technology to its fullest extent.
