Organic foods are those grown without the use of chemicals or fertilizers and eating a juicy, ripe piece of fruit fresh from your garden and knowing it was grown free of herbicides and pesticides is a comforting thought. All types of fruit can be grown organically from seeds, if you're an experienced gardener. There are companies that specialize in selling seeds that come from organic plants or you can save seeds from organic fruits you purchase that can be propagated from seed.

    Apples

    • Growing organic apple trees from seed takes persistence and time but with proper care, your trees can flourish. Apple seeds come in a wide variety including Rome, Fuji, Empire, Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Jonagold and Gala. Colors and flavors depend on the type you choose and can include red, green or yellow fruit. If you're collecting apple seeds from an organic apple, make sure to let them air-dry for three to four weeks. After the seeds are dry, place them in a container and refrigerate them for three months before planting. This helps prepare the seeds for proper germination.

    Strawberries

    • While gardeners often choose to start organic strawberry plants from plants, you can successfully grow several varieties from seed. Red Alpine and Yellow Wonder are two kinds that are sold as organic. Yellow Wonder produces very sweet berries and are a natural bird repellent. Red Alpine strawberries produce fruit the first summer they are grown and are known to be very hardy. In both cases, it's best to start the seeds indoors to insure the odds of survival once they are transplanted outside after the ground warms up .

    Peaches

    • Growing an organic peach tree from seed is easier than most trees and only takes three to five years to begin producing fruit. You can either buy the organic seeds or crack open the peach pit of an organic fruit to retrieve the seeds. Before doing this, let the pits dry for several days. Once the seeds are retrieved, place the seeds in the refrigerator for several months. When you're ready to plant them, soak the organic peach seeds overnight and then put them in the ground.
